“Team, I'd like you to meet Peyton. Smile and wave, folks, smile and wave.”

A sea of blank, tired faces stared up at an over-enthusiastic Greg, who called in an 'important' meeting to introduce the newest cast member into the criminalist's on going soap opera that is their underpayed overrated profession.

Sara's eyes stared pleadingly at the fresh pot of coffee brewing across the room. The temptation was overwhelming, but not even she could interupt Greg's momentary fascination with the stock-still figure beside him.

Catherine's mind was wondering to familiar places, all circling around a certain younger blonde and her insatiable appetite for house-hold drama. She checked her watch inconspiciously.
I don't have time for this, she thought.

Nick's leg tapped against the underside of the suddenly constricting table. When was Grissom going to barge in with a new case and interrupt this love-fest Greg has going on up there? His hand flicked up in a reflex movement, and it was seconds after it was back on the table that he realized he waved. So much for rebelling.

God, I probably look like a serial killer right now, was the only coherent thought running through Brass' mind. Yet still, he kept that big ol' onoxiously fake grin plastered to his face, knowing damn well it probably came across as a look of pure anger.

Peyton was a CSI over in Los Angelas for a while before transferring, and I'd like to make her feel at home here, so please everyone try to be nice and jus-”

Easier said than done.” Sara cut in softly, but loud enough for Nick and Catherine, who were sitting opposite her, to hear clearly. They stiffled a giggle, and Greg jumbled on, ignoring the momentary interruption.

As I was saying, just think about how everyone acted on your first day, and then do the opposite.” At that, no one could supress a genuine smile, as old memories resurfaced. Sara glanced around at her co-workers and chuckled to herself. My how things have changed. And she knew they had. She'd found a family where she least expected it.

And at most, this girl deserved a chance.
